Biography

Vernon Love was born in Greensboro, NC to parents who sang in the church choir. He attended and graduated from Ben L. Smith Sr. High School in Greensboro, NC. He also attended Howard University in Washington, DC at the School of Business as a Marketing Major.

Mr. Love's musical inspiration came from his parents, and recording artists like Donnie Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, Sarah Vaughan, Gladys Knight, The Clark Sisters, and Richard Smallwood. Currently, he is a background singer for Richard Smallwood and VISION.

Because he grew up in the church, Mr. Love was trained in playing the piano and organ. He was a member of New Cedar Grove Baptist Church and the former Wells Temple Church of God in Christ, both located in Greensboro, NC.

He was a background singer for former DC local artists Julia Nixon and Company, and Henry Davis and Company. For six years, Mr. Love was a member of the Washington, DC R&B group VICE.

He comes from a musical family. His sister, Nancy Wilson, has just released a gospel CD titled "Design for Worship." His nephew, Isaac Carree, sings with the gospel group Men of Standard. His niece, Kimberly Maxwell, plays the piano/organ for Bishop Paul Morton of Greater St. Stephen's Full Gospel Church in New Orleans, LA. Another niece, Angela Carree, plays the drums for the Faith Deliverance Christian Center in Norfolk, Virginia.

Currently, he is a Director of Music at the Amistad St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lanham, Maryland.

Mr. Love is a prolific songwriter. He composed all of the songs for "Love's Emotions," his first CD.

Currently, he resides in Washington, DC.
